Roundup Cattle

Sell your cattle online with Roundup

Brett Stone is a Colorado representative for Roundup Internet Livestock Marketing, a full-service livestock marketing company with a daily online cattle market and live internet auctions. Your cattle sell to buyers across the West without leaving your ranch until delivery.

Two Ways to Sell

Silent auction or live internet auction

Daily silent auction. Your cattle are listed online with an asking price, and approved buyers can bid any weekday during trading hours. It's a standing market you can use when the timing is right for you.

Live internet auctions. Scheduled sales where buyers bid in real time online while an auctioneer calls the sale. You set a reserve, and lots that don't reach it pass out with no sale.

Either way, buyers see a full description of your cattle: head count, sex, base weight, location, delivery window and any premium programs.

How It Works

From listing to load-out

1. Talk to Brett

Brett looks at your cattle and helps you describe them accurately: head count, base weight, slide and the delivery window that works for you. You sign a consignment contract with Roundup.

2. List and sell

Your lot goes up in the silent auction or a live internet auction. Feeder cattle sell by the hundredweight; breeding stock sells by the head.

3. Partial payment

After the sale, the buyer puts down $100 per head. You receive $80 per head right away, and $20 per head is held toward the commission.

4. Deliver and get paid

Cattle are weighed and loaded on the buyer's trucks on your delivery date. Roundup's rep handles sorting, and you're paid the balance minus commission.

Details summarized from Roundup's posted Terms & Conditions. Brett will walk you through the current terms and commission before you list.

Roundup Questions

What is Roundup Internet Livestock Marketing?

Roundup Internet Livestock Marketing (Round Up Cattle Company) is a full-service livestock marketing company launched in 2011 and based in Visalia, California. It runs a daily online silent auction and scheduled live internet auctions for load lots of cattle, with representatives in 14 western and plains states.

How does selling cattle through Roundup work?

You work with a Roundup representative like Brett Stone, who helps you describe your cattle, set a base weight, slide and delivery window, and sign a consignment contract. Your cattle are then listed in the online silent auction, where buyers can bid every weekday, or in a scheduled live internet auction run by an auctioneer. The cattle stay on your ranch until delivery.

How are feeder cattle priced on Roundup?

Stocker and feeder cattle are sold by the hundredweight with a base weight and an up-only slide, according to Roundup's posted terms. A bid of $110.75 per hundredweight equals $1.1075 per pound. Breeding stock is sold per head.

When does the seller get paid?

Under Roundup's posted terms, the buyer makes a $100 per head partial payment after the sale. The seller receives $80 per head up front and $20 per head is held toward Roundup's commission. The balance is paid at delivery, and the commission is deducted from the seller's final payment.

What size groups sell on Roundup?

Roundup sells load lots. Its terms describe a typical load as 42,000 to 50,000 pounds of cattle, so it's best suited to ranches selling a truckload or more.
